Catalina Gris works in tecnica mixta: to construct her paintings she uses a variety of textiles dyed by hand with plants. These natural colors are visible in large areas of her pieces in contrast to thin and thick layers of acrylic and oil paint. She aims to express through these antagonic materials and an abstract pictorial language inspired by the observation of her surroundings, the irony of living in the modern Mexican city, where efforts of sustainability seem to never be enough.
